I had buried myself in closed-door development for most of 2016 into 2017. So when the opportunity to go to GDC 2017 came up, I jumped at it. I didn't exactly have a demo of my current project to show, so it was a pretty low stress affair. And it was really nice to get out of the studio and stretch my legs.
The GDC Expo floor is pretty chaotic and has a casino style feel to it. I can only handle it in small doses, but I saw some neat stuff.
GDC is a great excuse to catch up with old friends and make new ones, from all over the world! I did get the chance to share my current project with a handful of people that I respect and got some very useful feedback that will help guide future development.
Unity threw some amazing parties, as usual! But by the end of it I was feeling pretty purple^ and ready to get back home and start developing again. Unfortunately, I managed to catch a nasty cold/flu on the road and have spent the last week hibernating. Only now am I regaining my strength and feeling the winds of gamedev pushing my sails again.
Gamedev, onward!
