Columbus, Ohio

I'm thinking about moving back to Columbus, because I've already caught the "winter blues" out here in the countryside. It might be a nice change of environment, to boost productivity. I liked living in Columbus last year.

Anyway, I found this vid. And it's cool and has helped me understand the COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) system:

Loving you and missing you friend

Patrick Jost died recently. He was a close friend and co-worker in gamedev. I can't say much more about him without crying... he was always open for creative discussion, smokin and retro-gaming.

He was a talented, friendly, creative person. I miss him so much now.

Visitors?

Exactly what type of visitors are we talking about?

Okay, this post may seem silly. But it will make sense soon enough. Trust me, I'm not going crazy.

GDC 2017 - A New Hope

I had buried myself in closed-door development for most of 2016 into 2017. So when the opportunity to go to GDC 2017 came up, I jumped at it. I didn't exactly have a demo of my current project to show, so it was a pretty low stress affair. And it was really nice to get out of the studio and stretch my legs.

The GDC Expo floor is pretty chaotic and has a casino style feel to it. I can only handle it in small doses, but I saw some neat stuff.

GDC is a great excuse to catch up with old friends and make new ones, from all over the world! I did get the chance to share my current project with a handful of people that I respect and got some very useful feedback that will help guide future development.

Unity threw some amazing parties, as usual! But by the end of it I was feeling pretty purple^ and ready to get back home and start developing again. Unfortunately, I managed to catch a nasty cold/flu on the road and have spent the last week hibernating. Only now am I regaining my strength and feeling the winds of gamedev pushing my sails again.

Gamedev, onward!
